What does it mean to be a Christian?
How do I know I am saved? I see Christians do bad things and act terrible are they saved?
These are comments we hear often. The mystery of being a Christian is not much of a mystery at all. God has created each of us to know deep in our spirit that he exists. We can’t put our finger on it, but we know this to be true.
We spend much of our lives trying to determine if we are worthy of God’s love. This process keeps many from experiencing his love, grace and mercy for us.
The Good News as the Bible says (acts 5:42) is that Jesus came and died on the cross for our sins. But wait, am I a sinner that sounds bad.
Well you are in good company because the Bible also says (Romans 3:23) All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. God’s plan is simple; he loves us, he sent his son to die so we could have life abundantly (John 10:10).
What do we need to do to receive this gift of salvation? This is the easy part.
We could do a bunch of rituals and we are good at that but all God asks is that we accept his son Jesus as our Lord and Savior. No one comes to the father but through the son (John 14:6).
We can pray to God, thank him for this gift and the gift of his son Jesus. We know our lives are full of stuff that does not honor him but God loves us as the creation he made us to be.
Our desire is to walk with him.
HOW DO WE DO THAT?
Once we agree to follow him, to read his word, to love those that God has put in our lives, the journey has begun and for each of us we will experience God in a unique way.
I encourage you to start the journey. It is a lifelong one and the blessings are great.
As a Christian you are a follower of Jesus not a perfect human. You are on a journey to walk in his will for your life, ask him to guide your life that it may honor him in all you do.
Father we are thankful for the gift of your Son Jesus, we accept him as our Lord and Savior. We desire to follow you in all we do and be a light to those that you put in our lives. We are thankful for your forgiveness and thankful that you love us just as we are. We love you and praise your name.
